Raising Adults

So pretty much parenting is harder than it looks.

Little girls are enamored with babies. Even my little girl nurtures her baby dolls and little brother. It's in our DNA to some degree, or so it seems.

So naturally the progression for most is get married and have babies.

And so I did. Married at 20. First child at 21. Second at 23.

And I love love love being a mommy. It's amazing and not like anything else you can experience.

I hear all the time from young girls. "Oh he/she's so cute, I want one!"

But it's not as simple as "I want a baby" and then you have one.

You see as a parent I'm responsible to raise ADULTS. Not cutesy, chubby- cheeked cuddly warm fuzzy babies (as wonderful as they are). Adults.

And that my friends is hard work. Rewarding hard work.

It means a complete and total life change. A complete shift of perspective.

I'm not just having kids for the fun of it. I'm having kids so that there are more amazing, successful, life-skilled, balanced, world-changing people on this planet.

'I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can'
