Today started out quite early as my son was up for the morning at 5:45am. He managed to wake his sister up a bit after 6. I knew to get ready I'd have to have some sort of intervention. My husband sleeps til the last possible minute every day so I resorted to "Dinosaur Elmo" and jumped in the shower. Got out, dressed, dressed the kids, gave 'em oatmeal for breakfast, made Ian's lunch and coffee, dried and straightened my new hair cut (love it!), wiped noses and faces, put on shoes and coats, grabbed cups and bottles and snacks and made it out the door at 7:40am. Drove Ian to work. Swung by Dad's office to pick up package. Made it to Target about 8:30. Not bad so far. This is quite a typical morning for us. Put kids in a mammoth shopping cart with seats in front (this should read small watercraft vessel) Shopped with the kids. L&A decided they didn't want to ride in the cart. Let them out to look for books. Put them back in order to get to the clothes section. Lyric decided she didn't want to and did 'the flop'. The flop is when she lets her muscles relax, arches her back and 'ever so gracefully' flops to the floor. Did I mention she was screaming no, no, no, no, no all the while? Put her in the cart and tell her to find her happy heart. Approve all the cute clothes choices Vikki is making for the kids (and loving the new wardrobes she's buying for my cute kids!), find random toys for kids to play with to keep them entertained. Lyric begins to meltdown further after being told we are not buying some boots that she was prepared to put on that very instant. We are finally done and at this point she has completely lost control of her emotions (Did I mention Atticus woke her up this morning and she needs her beauty sleep). We check out successfully, head to starbucks. Buy the kids an odwalla smoothie and divide it up. Vikki brings me tea, I take it to the table to put sugar in. Take the lid off and turn around to check on atticus. Lyric dumps tea into her lap. I'm glad it wasn't the normal scalding temperature. Strip my already emotional worn out daughter down to her diaper all the while grateful we happened to have bought new clothes. Redress her. Starbucks barista has pity on us and gives us a free new tea. Corral the kids and make it to the car. Lyric finds her happy heart again. Phew! Drive to the mall. Unload kids into the doublewide I mean er, stroller. Proceed to play area in the mall...er I mean the LIFESAVER!. Let kids play. Have to keep a hawks eye on Atticus as his favorite toy in the place is escaping. No one told him it's actually more fun to go down the slide. Vikki takes Lyric through Build A Bear...Lyric ironically picks a dog. Head to food court while saying a silent prayer that our food court has the ever so kid friendly Chick-fil-a. Lunch. Quickly head to Journey's Kids and found the cutest shoes for the kids. Lyric-new pink and white DC's with stars. Atticus Vans style elmo shoes. Head home for much needed naps. Naptime over, playtime. Drive to pick up Ian. Head to Hideaway for pizza. Lyric gags herself on cracker at the table and spits up all she's eaten. Wipe it onto plate with napkins and go dump in bathroom trash. Atticus cried entire meal asking to get down. Both kids eat equivilent of 1/4 slice of pizza and a million crackers. Pizza was wrong. Pizza was free. We left feeling sorry for the person who had to clean up after us. The table was a wreck. Vikki left a good tip. Five minutes home Ian doesn't see the median. Runs into it. Loudly. We all were scared. Car was ok. We were ok. Made it home. Bathtime. Vikki made kids popcorn. They dumped it all on the floor. Bedtime.
I'm exhausted.

I laughed so very hard when I read this. Not at you. More because your kid adventures sound a lot like mine recently! Except my kids are bigger and "flop" is in effect Ethan kicking whatever is in his way. Yes, that includes people. It's been difficult but I finally realized that his routine and his sleep have been screwed up ... especially the sleep. :)L and Ethan aren't that different!
Glad you guys and the car are all okay!
