The moments and days and weeks spent so far in Chile have been challenging, tiring, wet, cold but mostly wonderful and fufilling.
Challenging things: all the changes, traveling with 2 children 2 and under, remembering Spanish, living with 4 other people in small house, washing clothes every other day so they have time to dry, figuring out the weird money system (550 pesos to $1), finding family time in the midst of team orientated day, etc...
Tiring things: traveling with small children, thinking in spanish and english and trying to remember which one I am talking in, cleaning cleaning cleaning up constantly ( a by-product of 8 people living in a small house), cooking in a small kitchen, etc...
Wet things: our clothes that never seem to dry on the line in the ocean air, the floor in the house, the air, the ground when it rains, etc...
Cold things: my children when they wake up in the middle of the night, the house with no heating or insulation, Atticus' hands from crawling on the cold tile floor, Lyric's hands from being outside (because she insists on playing outside even though it is cold), my toes because i hate wearing shoes even in the winter, outside because it is the end of winter here, etc...
Wonderful things: God's hand going before us, provision of the house we are staying in, people's openness and warmth to us and our vision, being in Chile, Atticus being loved on by all the abuelitas (grandmothers), Lyric being able to go to the little preschool class in the mornings on the base here (she loves playing with the kids her age), etc...
Fufilling things: speaking in Spanish again, seeing God at work in Chile, hearing his voice directing our steps, living in this culture, feeling at home, feeling at peace, etc...
Estamos aqui. We are here. Y ya esta. And this is it.
